The SECURE & RUN system is the trade management framework that powers every signal AphexTrader sends. It was designed with one goal: maximize profit factor while maintaining a high win rate. Here's exactly how it works and why it gives us an edge.
The Problem With Traditional Signal Services
Most signal providers use one of two approaches:
- Fixed TP/SL: Set a 1:2 or 1:3 risk-reward and wait. Win rate drops to 35-45%. Long losing streaks destroy confidence and accounts.
- No TP: "Let it run" — sounds great in theory, but without structure, profitable trades reverse to breakeven or loss. Emotional decisions take over.
Both approaches leave money on the table. SECURE & RUN solves this.
The Three-Phase System
Phase 1: SECURE (TP1 at 1.0R)
When a trade reaches 1.0R profit, we immediately:
- Close 50% of the position — locking in real profit
- Move stop loss to breakeven on the remaining 50%
This is the "SECURE" part. After TP1, no matter what happens, you have profit in your account. The remaining position is now completely risk-free.
Phase 2: GROW (TP2 at 2.0R)
With the position now risk-free, we trail the stop and target TP2 at 2.0R. When TP2 is hit:
- Close 30% of original position (60% of remaining)
- Move stop loss to TP1 level (locking in 1.0R on the runner)
Total profit so far: 50% at 1.0R + 30% at 2.0R = +1.1R with a guaranteed minimum of +0.7R even if the runner reverses to the TP1 stop.
Phase 3: RUN (TP3 at 3.5R)
The final 20% is our "runner" — designed to capture the big moves. The stop is locked at TP1 level, so worst case we make 1.0R on this portion. When TP3 hits:
- Close remaining 20% at 3.5R
- Total trade profit: 0.5R + 0.6R + 0.7R = +1.8R
